Welcoming Our Newest Hope Fund Scholars!
Khaled Abunijaila, a registered refugee from Gaza City, attended the private Rosary Sisters school through high school, where he maintained an outstanding academic record and continuously ranked at the top of his class.

Of his U.S. college experience, Palestinian Hope Fund alumnus Mohammed Abumailaq notes, “[It] showed me what an engineer is capable of doing.” A recent graduate of the University of Rochester in biomedical engineering, Mohammed had the opportunity to conduct research at his university’s medical center that will be used to help advance hearing aid technology.
Tunisian DKSSF scholar Cyrine Ben Ayad was drawn to engineering because she “wanted an exciting career where I would wake up to something new every day.” An outstanding high school student, Cyrine applied to Smith College with the support of the DKSSF and is now “studying alongside other powerful women that are inspiring me and pushing me to be better and do better.”
