Amideast/UAE, Boeing and the U.S. Mission to the UAE are proud to mark the graduation of 48 students who have successfully completed the STEM Ambassadors program in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The program, which was launched in January 2023, culminated in a graduation ceremony held on May 19, 2023 in Dubai.
Mr. Kochuba, who assumed his position on May 8, 2023, brings to Amideast over 20 years of experience as a career diplomat managing public affairs and developing strategic communications, outreach activities, and engagement programs for several U.S. embassies in the MENA region, including in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Tunisia, Morocco, and Kuwait. During these assignments, he worked with Amideast offices and other local partners to launch and to support educational, cultural, and exchange programs and partnerships for youth and young professionals. He was also posted to the U.S.
“The Institute's highest honor Is the newly struck Century Medal marking the second century of IIE’s service, and it is my very great pleasure on behalf of the IIE board directors to present it to you,” IIE's CEO, Dr. Allan Goodman, said as he presented the medal at a special ceremony at IIE’s headquarters on May 4.
Young people in the United States, Middle East, and North Africa will engage with international peers through learning without having to leave their hometowns.
March 2023 - Sixty young men and women, ages 18–25, will participate in the STEM for Sustainability Youth Program beginning in April. The training will provide immersion in activities that develop skills in STEM fields as well as the integration of problem-based learning. The program will also raise their awareness of career opportunities in the STEM fields through classroom presentations as well as field trips to sites where environmental challenges are addressed through STEM-based solutions.
Amideast is pleased to join the U.S. Department of State and three Jordanian organizations in announcing the launch of the American Language Center (ALC) program in four cities across Jordan: Ma’an, Mafraq, Irbid, and East Amman.
October 15, 2022—The HEI program is funded by United States Agency for International Development (USAID), supported by Egypt’s Ministry of Higher Education, and implemented by Amideast/Egypt, with additional funding for two visually impaired students from the Housing and Development Bank.
September 22, 2022—Schmidt Futures, in partnership with the Rhodes Trust, announced the second cohort of 100 Rise Global Winners. Rise finds brilliant people who need opportunity and supports them for life as they work to serve others.
The PCELT was developed by Amideast in partnership with World Learning/SIT Graduate Institute to provide English teachers in the MENA region with an internationally recognized certification program. PCELT's emphasis on practices that create a learner-centered, interactive classroom has already translated into an improved learning experience for tens of thousands of students in the region.
