Funding U.S. Study

To be able to make the investment in U.S. study, smart planning is the key — you need to do research to identify U.S. funding possibilities that match your own needs and strengths.

Below are some suggestions and strategies to help you get off to the best possible start in funding your U.S. studies.

Planning

Begin researching the costs of your planned program well in advance. All U.S. universities and colleges can provide an estimate of tuition and living costs at their particular institution. Both tuition and living costs can vary widely.

U.S. Admissions: Testing

  • TOEFL®. If English is not your native language, you must submit a Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score. Many institutions require a minimum score of about 80 on the Internet-based (iBT) TOEFL, about 213 on the computer-based version of the TOEFL (a version of the test no longer offered), or about 550 on the paper-based version for both undergraduate and graduate students to enter their academic programs.

Fast Facts about PCELT

With English linked to youth opportunity regionwide, the relevance of this undertaking cannot be overstated.

Interning at Amideast

Interns come away with IT, computer, and organizational skills valued in the workplace. They are able to practice their English and other communication skills while functioning in an environment that gives them insights into how an international NGO operates. They may additionally gain from opportunities to assist in teaching, implementing programs, and working with youth.

Check with the Amideast office nearest you to find out what internship opportunities are offered.

Palestinian students from the West Bank, Jordan, and Lebanon should instead apply to the Hope Fund, a similar Amideast scholarship program for Palestinian students.

About the MSSF

Amideast's MENA Scholarship Support Fund (MSSF) enables highly qualified students from underserved communities in the Middle East and North Africa to pursue undergraduate study in the United States. Through this program, Amideast identifies exceptional students who demonstrate promise, but lack the financial means to attend an American college or university.

MSSF provides support to students admitted to U.S. colleges and universities with generous financial aid packages by closing the gap in cost of attendance.
