Photography for a Better Future

Program description: 

This 30-hour course provides participants with basic photography skills which they will utilize in reflecting on topics of diversity, equity, inclusion, environmental protection, disability, and human rights. The program is primely directed towards channeling the young participants to see and recognize social injustice and then look for and suggest solutions, all through using the camera. The Photography for a Better Future program includes field visits to enable the participants to capture various aspects of social injustice for which they will identify potential solutions.This program targets 54 West Bank/Jerusalem school students (ages 12-16) as the primary audience broken into 3 groups.

Training Delivery:

  • Ramallah: July 9th - July 20th, 2023. From Sunday to Thursday from 9:00am to 12:00pm or from 12:15pm to 3:15pm.
  • Jerusalem: July 5th - July 12th, 2023 (6-hour sessions).

Training location:

Ramallah: Several Ramallah public places like Al Bireh Municipality Garden and Mahmoud Darwish Museum Garden.

Jerusalem: America House Jerusalem and field visits.

 
Eligibility Criteria:

  • 12 to 16-year-old students.
  • Has a smart phone.
  • Not a U.S. citizen or a Green Card Holder.
  • Can attend face-to-face field sessions in Ramallah or in Jerusalem.
  • Is available in July for the training.
  • Committed and passionate about photography.
