GRE General Test
The GRE General Test is offered worldwide both at authorized test centers and online.
The current GRE General Test consists of three measures: Analytical Writing, Verbal Reasoning, and Quantitative Reasoning.
The test includes five sections in total:
The GRE General Test takes about 1 hour and 58 minutes to complete, making it significantly shorter than the previous format.
Free preparation materials are available on the ETS website.
GRE Subject Tests
The GRE Subject Tests measure undergraduate-level knowledge in specific disciplines and are used by some graduate programs to evaluate applicants’ academic preparation.
GRE Subject Tests are currently available in Mathematics, Physics, and Psychology and are delivered by computer at Prometric test centers and elsewhere worldwide.
The tests contain one subject-specific section with no separately timed subsections, allowing test takers to manage their time throughout the exam.
Because the content, number of questions and test duration differ by subject, candidates should consult the official ETS website for detailed test specifications.
A list of available subject tests is available on the ETS website.
