Academic Writing Online

This asynchronous, online course was developed for participants with at least a B1 level of English, 16-years and older.  This 40-hour class has 4 weekly modules.

  • Module 1: Review of basic writing structures
  • Module 2: The introduction paragraph and thesis
  • Module 3: Body paragraphs and citing sources
  • Module 4: The conclusion and putting it all together

Each week you will complete a few activities, interact with your other participants in an online forum, and turn in a writing assignment. Since the program is asynchronous, you can log in and work on it at any time during the week. However, there are some hard deadlines:

  1. By Wednesday of each week, you must make an original post to the online forum
  2. By Friday of each week, you must upload your writing assignment and respond to at least 2 of your classmates in the online forum.

A certified Amideast teacher will be there to facilitate your progress, contribute to the online forums, and give direct feedback on your writing each week.
