ABOUT THE PROGRAM

The U.S. Embassy in Beirut and Amideast are pleased to announce the opening of the 2024-2025 Fulbright Foreign Student Program competition. The Fulbright Program enables Lebanese students to pursue graduate-level study in the United States of America. Participants will also have a unique opportunity to experience life in the United States and share Lebanon’s unique culture and traditions with Americans. Participants are chosen through an open, merit-based competition in which leadership potential, academic excellence, and the ability to adjust to life in the United States are all considered. Once accepted into the Fulbright Program, every Fulbrighter becomes part of a global network of engaged and dedicated Fulbright alumni.

The Fulbright program provides:

  • Tuition and required fees for graduate study in the United States;
  • Book, equipment, and travel allowances;
  • Monthly stipend for accommodations and meals;
  • Supplemental health and accident insurance coverage plan, and
  • Opportunities to participate in Fulbright Enrichment Programs.

Eligible applicants must:

  • Be a Lebanese citizen or hold the Special Travel Document for Palestinian Refugees issued by the Lebanese Government.
  • Reside in Lebanon throughout the application, selection, and placement process;
  • [only if applying for MBA degree] have two years of professional work experience;
  • Hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution at the time of the program start date;
  • Have a strong academic background, and
  • Be proficient in English and/or able to attend a Long-Term English (LTE) program prior to the start of the study program.
  • Preference is given to students who have little or no previous experience studying or living in the United States.
  • Persons of all backgrounds, including those with disabilities, are encouraged to apply.
  • Master’s programs with a clinical studies component, such as medicine and nursing, are not permitted.
  • U.S. citizens or green card holders are not eligible to apply.

The Application:

  • The online application is available at https://apply.iie.org/ffsp2024/
  • Applications will be accepted in most fields of study, including humanities, social sciences, sciences, technology, and engineering. However, master’s programs with a clinical studies component, such as medicine and nursing, are not permitted.
  • Applications and materials must be submitted through the online system.

 

Applicants will be required to submit the followings:

  • Official academic transcripts;
  • TOEFL or IELTS scores if available;
  • An up-to-date CV detailing all prior education and work experience;
  • Three letters of reference, in English;
  • A personal statement, in English, up to 600 words in length, and
  • A study/research objective essay, in English, up to 600 words, related to the field of study.

Deliver hardcopies of the following supporting documents to the Amideast office:

  1. One official transcript for each undergraduate and graduate degree (in English).
  2. Three sealed letters of recommendation (two from university professors). Letters of recommendation can be submitted online via the Fulbright application website. Note for Master of Business Administration (MBA) candidates: Three letters of recommendation (two of which must be from professional colleagues). Note: All recommendations must be submitted on the official Fulbright letter of recommendation form available on the website. Other formats will not be accepted.
  3. Two recent passport-sized photos with applicant’s name written on the back.

Optional Submission of Graduate-Level Exam Scores

  • Applicants are not required to submit graduate exam results at the time of application. Scores may be submitted if available.
  • Applicants for most graduate programs must take the Graduate Record Examination (GRE).
  • MBA degree applicants must take the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) instead of the GRE and have a minimum of two years of work experience (by August 2023).
  • Final selection of Fulbrighters, however, will be contingent upon successful completion of the requisite exams in August 2023. Serious applicants are encouraged to prepare in advance for these required exams.

Important Notes

  • Selected candidates should be available for interviews in Beirut during June 2023.
  • Fulbright students are subject to the 212e home-country physical presence requirement, which requires students to return to Lebanon for a cumulative period of two years prior to being eligible for certain U.S. visa categories.   • Applications must be completed online. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.
