Amideast BLADI Project (December 2018 – January 2021)
Launched in late 2018, the two-year Building Local Associations for Development and Innovation, or BLADI, project sought to build the capacity and expand the work of 18 local Tunisian civil society organizations (CSOs) that effectively address issues of social exclusion, marginalization, and extremism in Tunisia.
In partnership with two Tunisian organizations, Shanti and Jamaity, Amideast worked with the 18 nascent CSOs across Tunisia to undergo a 4-month incubation and training period, followed by an opportunity to receive funding for a project of their own design aimed at countering violent extremism in their vulnerable communities.
Funded by the U.S. Department of State, Amideast provided selective small grants to 11 promising projects proposed by CSOs and supported them throughout the first year of project implementation. All CSO projects were completed in January 2021. The videos that follow highlight the work of these BLADI sub-projects, their impact on their communities, and their visions for the future.
