Program Overview The Guidance Counselor Engagement Program is funded by the U.S. Embassy in Cairo and administered by AMIDEAST. It aims to provide 40 Egyptian high-school guidance counselors in private, international and STEM schools with the knowledge and skills needed to support Egyptian students to apply to universities abroad. In doing so, this program will enable more Egyptian students to pursue their studies in the U.S. This 8-day training program will take place during the summer of 2020 in two Egyptian cities: Cairo and Alexandria. Training topics may include but are not limited to: evaluating students’ needs, U.S. admission process, understanding of the U.S. ranking system, writing proposal statements, and preparing for admission interviews. Upon completing the training, the expert will follow up with the counselors to evaluate their learning and provide support for them as they apply the concepts covered in the training.
