SAT® Test

The SAT® is a globally recognized undergraduate admission test that lets you show colleges how well you have learned and can apply knowledge in areas key to academic success: reading, writing and language, and math. An essay section is optional but required by some institutions. All U.S. colleges and universities accept SAT results during the admissions process.

Some institutions also require testing with the SAT Subject tests, available in a number of academic areas, or award undergraduate credit for strong results.

SAT and SAT Subject tests are held on fixed dates. Plan to register early as test centers sometimes fill, and allow yourself time to re-test if you are not satisfied with your results.

SAT is a registered trademark of the College Board, used under license.

The SAT is a three-hour, paper-based test, primarily involving multiple-choice questions. The optional essay section adds another 50 minutes to this time.

Many SAT Subject tests are available in the areas of English literature, other languages, history, mathematics, and sciences. All SAT Subject Tests are one-hour, paper-based multiple-choice tests. During each SAT Subject Test date, you can take up to three tests.

Scores will be provided online and mailed to the institutions you requested when you registered. Note that if you need a paper score report for your own use you need to request it when you register. AMIDEAST is not involved with score issuance; for questions on missing scores or to request additional score reports, please contact the College Board. More on SAT scores.
