Senior Director, Exchange Programs

Mr. Steven (“Steve”) Keller is Senior Director for Exchange Programs, overseeing Amideast’s management of the Fulbright Foreign Student program, the Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange and Study (YES) program, and other scholarships and exchange programs entrusted to Amideast by the U.S. Department of State and a variety of private foundations and other program sponsors and donors. Before his appointment in that role, he served as Interim Vice President for Exchange Programs for one year and served for more than 15 years as Amideast’s Country Director in the West Bank, Gaza, and East Jerusalem.  

Mr. Keller began his 21-year tenure with Amideast at the organization’s headquarters, heading up new business and program development. His interest in and focus on education, training, and development in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region began in Tunisia, where he served as a volunteer in the United States Peace Corps. His experience also includes working as an independent contractor for USAID in Washington, DC, as well as a year-long graduate internship at the Galilee Society for Health Research and Services in Israel.  

Mr. Keller holds a master's degree from the Center for Contemporary Arab Studies at Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service, where he was a Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) Fellow; and a bachelor's degree from the College of Architecture and Urban Studies at Virginia Tech. Mr. Kelleris a board member of the Alliance for International Exchange.
