RESPONDING TO INCREASING INTEREST IN ENGLISH FOR PROFESSIONAL AND ACADEMIC SUCCESS

As globalization and the information technology revolution increased demand for English language competency among the region's professionals and students, our offices began to add English language training modelled on the success of our English Language Center in Beirut, which had been improving the quality of English language programs and instruction in Lebanon since its creation in 1986. Amideast opened centers in Kuwait and Bahrain, offering English language training as well as advising, and by 2000, our other offices followed suit, establishing Amideast as a leading regional provider of English language training.

BUILDING CAPACITY IN EGYPT’S JUDICIAL SECTOR

Amideast and USAID/Egypt began a partnership to implement the Administration of Justice (AOJS) project, a multiyear technical assistance and training initiative to support the efforts of Egypt’s Ministry of Justice to modernize its Courts of First Instance by introducing automated case filing and management systems. Ongoing until 2009, AOJS would be the first of several contributions that Amideast would make to creating greater capacity in the region’s legal and judicial systems.
