The TOEFL ITP Assessment Series offers you a convenient, reliable, and affordable measure specifically of English for academic purposes. The tests are backed by 45 years of research by the world’s largest and leading test development agency, ETS.

The primary test most universities and colleges rely on is the TOEFL ITP Level 1 test, focused on intermediate to advanced learners. There’s also a TOEFL ITP Level 2 test specifically designed to help lower-level learners perform their best. The TOEFL ITP Level 1 test takes 2 hours to complete while the TOEFL ITP Level 2 test takes 1 hour, 10 minutes.

TOEFL ITP tests are paper-based, multiple choice assessments, with an online option for the Level 1 test expected to also be available in the near future,

Both tests include the following content:

  • Listening Comprehension measures the ability to understand spoken English as it is used in colleges and universities
  • Structure and Written Expression measures recognition of selected structural and grammatical points in standard written English
  • Reading Comprehension measures the ability to read and understand academic reading material in English. (For the lower-level TOEFL ITP Level 2 test this section includes vocabulary questions as well)

Following testing, you will receive a roster allowing easy comparison of candidate results and score reports that can be provided to each candidate. You will have a breakdown of section scores to assist in determining which skills need more work, allowing you to tailor activities to specific student needs. Helpful descriptors that show what individuals at particular score levels can typically do are supplemented with levels on the internationally used Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) scale.

For the TOEFL ITP Level 1 test, optional certificates can be used to reward and motivate high-achieving students. Bronze, Silver, and Gold certificates are available for students scoring at the CEFR B1, B2, and C1 levels respectively.

Dates can be arranged at your convenience. In some locations you can also choose to send students to public test administrations.
