Expanding AI Literacy in the Middle East and North Africa

teachers learn about AI

April 24, 2026

As an official partner in the Experience AI program, we’re proud to be part of a growing global effort to improve AI literacy. The Raspberry Pi Foundation’s latest global impact report highlights the scale of this work, with over 700,000 resource downloads across more than 180 countries.

Globally, the partner network has trained over 30,000 educators, with the potential to reach an estimated 2.9 million young people.

Through our partnership with the Raspberry Pi Foundation, we’re bringing Experience AI to educators and young people across the Middle East and North Africa region. So far this year we have trained 955 teachers who have reached an estimated 50,000 young people in Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia, and the United Arab Emirates.

Through our free teacher training and ongoing support, educators across the MENA are building confidence in AI concepts, while students develop a clearer understanding of artificial intelligence and machine learning through hands-on learning.

From our own surveys, participants told us:

"The biggest impact will come from understanding core AI concepts (like data, bias, and decision-making) and how to teach them through real-world examples, and I can use the Experience AI resources to empower students by helping them think critically about AI, recognize ethical issues, and practice using AI responsibly and creatively.” Hamdy – Egypt

“Understanding AI is important because it is already a big part of our daily lives. When students learn how it works, they can use it responsibly and creatively. It also helps them develop critical thinking so they can decide when to trust AI and when to rely on their own human judgment.”  Rewan - Egypt
