QITABI

Young learners have a chance to become empowered for a lifetime in a school environment that is conducive to learning.

In late September 2014, USAID awarded Quality Instruction Towards Access and Basic Education Improvement (QITABI), a $42 million grant to implement basic education services in Lebanon’s public schools over a four-year period, to Amideast, World Learning, MSI, and Ana Aqra’.

Amideast’s intervention aims to improve the school climate and alleviate pressures on school resources to ensure that schools are better able to enroll children who are not in school. Activities focus on supporting the Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MEHE)’s efforts to integrate information and communication technology (ICT) in education and foster a learning climate that benefits all students in public schools on a sustainable basis.

These activities included training mentors from the ministry’s Department of Orientation and Guidance to oversee the effective integration of ICT into the educational process at 300 public schools. In addition, Amideast worked with MEHE to develop a life-skills curriculum and a training unit at MEHE to implement it.
