ENGLISH ACCESS MICROSCHOLARSHIP (ACCESS) PROGRAM

The English Access Microscholarship (Access) Program provides a foundation of English language skills to talented 13-20 year-olds from economically disadvantaged sectors through after-school classes and intensive sessions. These English skills may lead to better jobs and educational prospects. Participants also gain the ability to compete for and participate in future exchanges and study in the United States.
Access Students

THE PROGRAM

The Access Program, which is funded by the U.S. Department of State, offers two years of English language instruction and additional workshops that introduce the youth to American culture, community service, policy issues, and career enhancement resources.

The English language curriculum strengthens English speaking, writing, listening, and reading skills with additional extracurricular activities. Activities may include guest speakers in the class, field trips in their country for cultural activities (such as films, exhibitions and concerts), and visits to different organizations.

Access students who excel may qualify for special Access enrichment programs or scholarships such as the Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange and Study (YES) program.
