TEACHER DEVELOPMENT CERTIFICATE ONLINE (TDC) — FUNDAMENTALS IN TESOL

Amideast’s Teacher Development Certificate Online (TDC) — Fundamentals in TESOL course is designed to meet the needs of English language teachers seeking to improve their classroom practices.

The 60-hour program is intended for teachers with little or no teaching background, as well as for individuals wishing to make a career shift to teaching. TDC provides a foundation in key principles and approaches in English language teaching and develops the skills needed to plan and deliver learner-centered lessons using the latest methodologies. TDC is offered at Amideast’s Dokki center, and can also be customized for the different needs of schools and educational organizations aiming to offer professional development opportunities for their teachers.

TDC also provides a solid foundation in preparation for the more advanced Professional Certificate in English Language Teaching (PCELT), a 120-hour, U.S.-accredited program developed by Amideast and World Learning/SIT Graduate Institute.

PREREQUISITES

Applicants should provide evidence of English language proficiency equivalent to B2 on the CEFR (a recent test score on an international English test) or take the Amideast Online English Placement Test (AOEPT).

Amideast Online classes require a desktop, laptop, or mobile device combined with a WIFI or minimum 3G network connection. Recommended browsers include:

Mobile iOS (12.2+): Safari Mobile

Mobile Android (6.0+): Chrome Mobile

SCHEDULE

60 Hours for 5 weeks, 2 times a week

  • Weekends (Friday and Saturday) from 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM
  • Weekdays (Monday and Tuesdays) from 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM

This course is 40 hours of virtual training and 20 hours of Independent Work.
