Skills for Success® - U.S. Consulate General Alexandria

The Amideast Skills for Success® University Graduate program aims to assist in overcoming unemployment by equipping youth with the necessary tools needed for employment and future success. To-date, more than 200 youth have finished the program and found job opportunities in Alexandria and Damietta.

Amideast is pleased to announce the Skills for Success® program for unemployed Egyptian university/institute graduates. The program is administered by Amideast and sponsored by the U.S. Consulate in Alexandria. The program will prepare unemployed youth for the workforce through the provision of training in the areas of business English, computer skills, integrated skills for the workplace, and career building and planning.

The program duration is two months

Program Objective

By the end of the program, participants will be able to:

  • Communicate effectively in both written and spoken English
  • Use a computer to write documents, prepare PowerPoint presentations, develop Excel sheets, and handle emails
  • Apply time-management concepts
  • Understand problem-solving and decision-making processes
  • Conduct a presentation in English
  • Write a resume and cover letter and be prepared to sit for interviews

The program will also provide career guidance by presenting a broad range of employment opportunities available to graduates. The career planning module will include a goal-setting session to assist participants in identifying the different job opportunities available and how to plan for them.

Target Audience

The program will target unemployed Egyptian youth who in the current business environment are unable to secure jobs. During selection, Amideast will identify candidates who are unemployed and unable to secure entry into the formal labor market.

The target audience will have the following characteristics:

  • Unemployed university or higher institute graduates
  • Recent graduates up to 27 years of age
  • Equal male/female ratio
  • Male applicants to have completed or are exempted from military service to ensure program completion
