Education Abroad for Americans

AMIDEAST/Egypt recently completed an eight-week summer program for Norfolk State University. Six students representing Norfolk State University, George Mason University, and Howard University studied intensive Arabic language and culture, in cooperation with Arab Academy who delivered the Arabic language instruction. In addition to the Arabic language study, students participated in orientation and intercultural-learning workshops, dialogue programs with Egyptian students, and supplemental lectures on Egyptian society and culture. The students also volunteered twice a week with AMIDEAST’s summer English camp for youth called Key of Life, interacting with the kids during the activities and game hour.  Click here for more information about AMIDEAST's Education Abroad for Americans programs in Egypt.

English Access Microscholarship Program

30 students from Access I and II recently held their graduation ceremony. The ceremony was held in Nile Hall of the Franciscan Fathers’ Center. The ceremony included dignitaries and student speeches, as well songs, a play and a presentation. The ceremony was a great opportunity for the students to share their two- year experience with Access III students who attended. Click here for more information about ACCESS.

Access Sinai

AMIDEAST/Egypt began implementation of the English Access Microscholarship Program in Arish, North Sinai, under the auspices of the USAID project LIFE - Sinai.

English for Religious Purposes

Applications for the English for Religious Purposes program are due Oct. 15. The program aims to enhance the English skills of young Muslim religious scholars to better enable them to engage in interfaith dialogue locally and at a global level for better mutual understanding. English Language Instruction

The latest round of public English language courses recently began, with over 800 students studying various levels of English at AMIDEAST facilities in Dokki and Heliopolis. New public specialized offerings include TOEIC Test Preparation and Business & Cultural Communication.

English for Hotel Staff Program

AMIDEAST has recently completed the English for Hotel Staff Training of Teachers program (August – September 2010). Currently, there are 140 qualified teachers training 10,000 hotel staff in 16 cities in Egypt.

English for Hotel Managers Program

AMIDEAST will launch the English for Hotel Managers Program in October 2010 in Cairo and in November 2010 in both Sharm El Sheikh and Hurghada. Placement tests will be conducted at AMIDEAST premises during the second week of October 2010.

Testing

The testing department is pleased to announce recent testing agreements with the following universities in Egypt to administer the TOEFL ITP and/or TOEIC exams:

  • Tanta University

  • Beni Suef University
