Amideast is pleased to partner with Citi Foundation to offer Skills for Success® to 54 young Saudi men and women, helping them gain skills essential for today’s workplace. The training program, to be offered at our center in Riyadh, consists of core components that develop participants’ English language proficiency, workplace skills valued by employers, and job search strategies based on local needs. In addition, an internship experience and community-based activity enhance participants’ self-development and workplace readiness. Skills for Success is designed to increase individuals’ personal awareness and confidence to make career-related choices, search for meaningful jobs, and enter the workforce successfully.
The program is part of the Citi Foundation’s Global Pathways to Progress Initiative and a larger, regional partnership between Amideast and the Citi Foundation, which includes a similar program in Egypt. It is the second time that Citi Foundation and Amideast/Saudi Arabia partner to support the country’s efforts to build a new generation of Saudi professionals and work-ready youth by helping them develop skills necessary to succeed in the job market.
PHASE ONE: PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL SKILLS
Participants receive training in skills critical for today’s workplace, such as business English, computer/IT skills, and professional skills relevant across sectors. Module topics include communication, critical thinking, problem solving, decision making, resume writing, and job interviewing skills. All training incorporates participants’ own developing career goals and self-awareness.
PHASE TWO: INTERNSHIP
Following the training phase, participants will have the opportunity to apply these skills, gain on-the-job experience, and enhance their resumes through one-month internships at top companies and organizations in Riyadh.
PHASE THREE: PAY-IT-FORWARD
To share what they have learned with others and maximize the impact of the program beyond the core group, participants prepare, with guidance from trainers, to deliver self-development and career awareness sessions to youth they have identified. Through this unique activity, the 54 participants will reach approximately 700 other Saudi youth in their own communities and gain further confidence in their personal and professional skills.
