I am an FLTA alumnus/na from the Middle East and North Africa region, can I apply to the ADG?

No, only alumni from the Fulbright Foreign Student Program for the Middle East and North Africa and whose grant was administered by Amideast are eligible to apply.

How often is this grant offered?

The Alumni Development Grant is offered twice every year. The first competition opens around the spring or summer for grant activities taking place from September to March and the second round opens in winter for grant activities taking place anytime from March until September.

I have received an Alumni Development Grant within the last two years, can I apply for another one this round?

There must be a two-year period between receipt of the last grant and the application for the next grant. Preference will be given to applicants who have never received a grant before.

An I required to be living in my home country to be considered for this grant?

No, but preference will be given to applicants residing in one of the countries that Amideast has administered the Fulbright program, however many alumni are not able to reside in their home country. Amideast is fully aware of these conditions and will examine each application on a case-by-case basis. If you have had to relocate, this should not deter you from submitting a competitive application.

Can I conduct my ADG activity in Europe if the conference I would like to attend is there?

No, the ADG activity can only be conducted in the MENA region or the United States. The ADG award does not support activities outside of those two regions. The applicant should identify an activity that is either in the MENA region or the U.S. to be considered a competitive candidate.

I would like to apply for an ADG however I have not fully completed my two-year home residency requirement, can I still apply?

No - only alumni who have completed their 2-year home residency requirement are eligible to apply for an ADG.

I would like to apply to attend a conference, but the dates of this event do not fall within the timeframe of the stated grant period. The conference dates are July 10-17 2023 and the ADG grant activity timeframe for this round is from September 2022 to March 2023. What should I do?

If your activity does not fall under the prescribed timeframe of the current open competition, you must wait until the next competition is open. To attend a conference in July 2023, you should wait and apply for the next round of Alumni Development Grants.

Can I apply for an ADG while I am still on my Fulbright Grant if the activity I propose takes place after I finish my Fulbright grant in the U.S.?

No, you must already be a Fulbright alumnus/na to be eligible to apply for an ADG. You will have to wait until you have completed your Fulbright grant requirements before you can apply for an alumni grant.

Are there reporting requirements after my ADG activity?
