Professional Training Program (PTP)

SINCE 2001, AMIDEAST/Lebanon has managed the Professional Training Program (PTP) funded by USAID/Lebanon. Through this program, AMIDEAST assists selected individuals and institutions in both the public and private sectors to access professional courses, conferences and forums within the Middle East and in the United States. Such opportunities provide an ideal means of facilitating linkages with professional colleagues and institutions throughout the region and in the United States, and upgrading the participants' knowledge in specific professional fields.

Training programs complement several of USAID/Lebanon's strategic objectives:

  • Support for increasing democratic practices and promotion of the rule of law
  • Strengthening civil society within the country
  • Capacity development of teacher skills and improved learning environments in public schools
  • Reducing pollution of the Upper Litani River and improving water management
  • Increasing incomes and expanding job creation

Since its inception, the program has demonstrated its ability to deliver the right training to the right individuals in an effective and efficient manner. AMIDEAST matches training needs with optimal training programs and providers as well as facilitates the logistics necessary for program attendance. To date, AMIDEAST has conducted over 100 training programs in Lebanon, the MENA region, or the U.S.A. A total of 2500 Lebanese participants have benefited from PTP's focused training programs.

The beneficiaries of this program are Lebanese professionals in the public, civic or private sectors who need to enhance their knowledge and skills to contribute to one of the objective listed above.
