GRE® Subject Tests
What is the GRE® exam?
The GRE revised tests are required for applicants to many graduate-level programs in the United States and at international universities. The GRE exam is made up of the General Test, composed of verbal, quantitative, and analytical sections, and of Subject Tests on specific academic fields. Some universities require only the General Test while others will request applicants to take Subject Tests related to their planned area of study.
Subject Tests currently available include the following:

  • Literature in English
  • Mathematics
  • Physics
  • Psychology

Where do I get a GRE bulletin?
AMIDEAST/Iraq maintains a supply of test bulletins in Erbil, Baghdad and Basra with all pertinent information about the GRE exam, including the registration form. Information on the exam content and registration procedures is also available on the GRE website.
Where and when can I take the GRE Subject Tests?
The GRE exam is administered by AMIDEAST in Iraq in its paper-based format in Erbil and Baghdad on limited dates per year. Below are the GRE Subject Tests locations/dates:

How do I register to take the GRE Subject Test in Iraq?
Test-takers with access to the internet and an international credit card may register for the paper-based test on the GRE Web site
If you do not have a credit card that works internationally, AMIDEAST offers a service allowing you to pay in local currency for a small additional fee. Please contact or visit our office for details.
Please note that hard copies of GRE score reports are no longer provided and must be ordered directly from the official ETS GRE website. AMIDEAST Iraq can no longer offer hard copies of GRE score reports. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Students will need to review and sign the local registration student agreement, complete a paper registration form, and pay the $210 fee in cash for the GRE Subject Test ($160 for the test plus $50 for the local registration services that AMIDEAST provides).
In order to facilitate communication, we require all students using the local registration service to obtain an e-mail address. AMIDEAST/Iraq staff rely primarily on e-mail for communication with students about testing issues.
How do I prepare for the GRE Subject Tests?
It is important for you to be familiar with the kinds of questions asked on the GRE Subject Tests. There are several ways to prepare.

Do the sample questions in the Subject Test Descriptive Booklet mailed to test registrants by ETS.
Purchase GRE preparation materials from AMIDEAST. Please contact for more information.
What do I do on the day of the test?
  • Report to the test center at least 30 minutes before your scheduled appointment. Check-in procedures take time. If you arrive late, you may not be admitted to the test, and you will forfeit your test fees.
  • Bring photobearing identification, as described in the GRE registration bulletin.
  • Bring your test confirmation information.
What about my scores?
Please note that hard copies of GRE score reports are no longer provided and must be ordered directly from the official ETS GRE website. AMIDEAST Iraq can no longer offer hard copies of GRE score reports. We apologize for any inconvenience.
Questions about any missing score reports should be directed to Educational Testing Service (ETS), the nonprofit organization that develops GRE and issues score reports. An e-mail sent to the ETS customer service address usually will receive a response in five to seven days.  Score report problems are best avoided by careful preparation of the registration form.
