As a Fulbright Student at the University of Kansas School of Pharmacy, I research the tiny powerhouses inside brain cells — mitochondria. In Alzheimer’s disease, mounting evidence shows that mitochondria do not function properly, and without enough energy, brain cells begin to weaken, lose their connections, and eventually die.

As I began my studies at Rice, I immediately sought out the Lilie Lab, the university’s incubator. There, I met like-minded individuals passionate about entrepreneurship. Lilie Lab offered a variety of classes and workshops, and I eagerly enrolled in them. This experience proved invaluable as it provided new insights and helped me pivot our project into its current minimum viable product.
A Year In The Fulbright Life Profiles
The Year in the Fulbright Life program is available for all current Fulbrighters administered through Amideast to participate in. It allows Fulbrighters to share what life is like in the United States with people around the world through short updates submitted monthly.
