Effective Presentation and Communication Skills

Presentation are the daily rituals of any business. In fact, how well we succeed in our career can be closely tied to how well we present information. We spend more and more of our lives in face-to-face interactions whether in small or large meetings among colleagues, with the management or in front of clients. The key point is to understand the different audiences, sell our ideas and lay the groundwork for important decisions.

Course Objectives

The course will enable participants to:

  • Prepare and structure their ideas in a way that is persuasive to different audiences
  • Ensure the intergrity of the message being sent by adapting their style, language and content to suit the communication preference of their listeners

  • Overcome "presentation anxiety"
  • Look at how they use visual aids to support their messages
  • Practice planning and delivering a persuasive presentation

    • Understand different preferences in giving and receiving information
      • Identify dominant ones while acknowledging the others
      • Prepare the presentation to embrace a wide variety of thinking styles
    • Know the culture-Formal and hidden
    • Know the context- the forces, unusual event or the pressure audience is experiencing or feeling

      • Understand the audience motivation and needs

    • Align the Different Communication Styles - reduce the distortion and refraction that could blur the communication process
  • Planning and Preparation

    • Purpose of the Presentation
      • Clearly state the purpose
      • Identify what you want them to take out and why
      • Gather the right and relevant information
      • Organize the information in a manner that is easy to follow, understand and remember
    • Structure of the Presentation
      • Beginning- tell them what you are going to say
      • Middel- delivering the content in details while illustrating the various points and ideas
      • Conclusion- summarize what has been said and call to action
    • Visual Aids
      • The most important visual aid in the room is the presenter
      • Gain and rapport and control
      • Develop visual support (PowerPoint) that clearly and briefly illustrate the themes of your presentation
      • Use of flip charts and white boards
    • Use of metaphors, analogies and stories
