Internships in Tunis

Opportunities throughout the year!

Where

AMIDEAST/Tunisia is located in the capital, Tunis—a cosmopolitan, Mediterranean capital city that has grown to a population of just under three million in the past five years. Tunis is known for its pleasant climate, close proximity to numerous historical sites such as legendary Carthage, its attractive mix of Arab and European cultures, and easy access to beautiful beaches and the Sahara Desert. An added attraction is regular flights to most Arab and European countries.

In September 2001 AMIDEAST opened a new center in Sousse, the third largest city in Tunisia.

Job Description

AMIDEAST welcomes CVs from American undergraduate students who are interested in a 3-12 month internship.

Possible positions could be helping our Advising coordinator in organizing:.

  • Information sessions about studying in the USA in the AMIDEAST centers in Tunis and Sousse;
  • Pre-departure sessions for Tunisians going to the USA on Department of State funded programs such as the Youth Exchange and Study (YES) Program for secondary school students, and the Fulbright Program for university students;
  • Preparation of Tunisian parents for the return of their teens from nine months in the USA on the 2007-2008 YES Program;
  • Alumni activities for returned YES students; and
  • Selection and Pre-departure sessions for secondary school students going to the USA for a three week Cultural/Linguistic Home Stay Program financed by Tunisian parents and sponsors.

Another area of potential assistance would be assisting the Marketing and Testing Coordinator, Nabila Lamouchi, in the implementation of such ETS tests as the Internet based TOEFL, SAT, GRE, TOEIC, etc. plus the marketing of tests.

The third possible internship would be working with our EL department which includes our ACCESS program, teaching underprivileged students and organizing fairs and activities to build understanding between cultures.

Internships are in both Tunis and Sousse.

AMIDEAST can only offer a monthly stipend of 400 DT, so additional funding will be needed from elsewhere.
