Best of the blog. Is TOEIC a test of U.S. English and business skills? Watch out —this could be a trick question.

Employers dissatisfied with university grad English skills. According to a Conference Board study, 30% of employers call the writing skills of recent workforce entrants with four-year degrees inadequate. And the statistics and job prospects only worsen for those not native English speakers. This article from Canada's Financial Post crunches some of the numbers and offers tips to learners. Do your job applicants a favor and ask them to take TOEIC if you're not sure of their skills.

Never too old. A thoughtful discussion from "Benny the Irish Polyglot" about reasons why adults, not children, have the advantage in language learning.

English Language Site of the Month. A brand new site from the U.S. Department of State, "American English," includes a collaborative video game designed to teach teenage learners not only about the language but also about U.S. society. The site as a whole is easily searchable and includes business English material for teachers and learners from such sources as VOA and the English Language Forum periodical.

Happy holidays and best wishes for a great new year. We here at TOEIC USA hope 2013 will be the best year yet for you and your families, with many more to come.
