TOEIC USA Newsletter: May 2012

Does your employer require TOEIC tests? Let them know that they can easily set up an test center of their own here in the United States for the most convenient, anytime testing. We can send materials to give TOEIC Listening & Reading tests right away, and have them set up to administer TOEIC Speaking & Writing tests in as little as one week. Read more about the advantages.

Next public TOEIC Speaking & Writing test date is July 14 at most locations. It may seem early but we recommend registering now. Demand has been growing rapidly since the United Kingdom approved TOEIC testing as an option to satisfy English language requirementss for all immigrant and student visas.View current locations and save your seat.

International U.K. graduates complain of weak English.  Even after years abroad, some returning home from the U.K are finding their language skills not sufficient for the world of work, says the Saudi Gazette. How much have your skills improved? Find out with TOEIC

English language site of the month. Funny video provides a "History of the English Language in 10 Minutes."

Loveliest word in the English language? Hot debate on the Guardian "Mind Your Language" blog on this topic. What gets your vote? "Elbow"? "Cwch"? (As speakers of North American rather than U.K. English, we never heard of that second one.) Good for amusement and poetry, the hundreds of ideas sadly won't help you much with TOEIC, as those tests focus on the most useful terms common across English-speaking workplaces.

Continuing to expand public test options. Our apologies to our San Francisco candidates who were unable to test this month. The good news is that we do expect to open a new site in the city shortly, likely in time for our next date on July 14. We will send an announcement and open registration as soon as plans are finalized. In the past two months we have also established new sites in Tampa, Austin, and Philadelphia, and continue to expand our testing network nationwide. If you want to test somewhere we're not testing yet, please let us know at toeic@amideast.org.
