TOEFL® Junior: English Language Testing for Younger Students

The TOEFL® Junior test gives schools an objective measure of young students' English-language proficiency. The test is a general English proficiency assessment that is not limited to any specific curriculum and is geared for middle- and secondary-level students. TOEFL Junior is designed to measure listening comprehension, language form and meaning, and reading comprehension.

The TOEFL® Junior test can:

  • Provide parents and educators with objective information about student progress in developing English-language skills over time.
  • Serve as a comprehensive measurement for low- and medium-stakes decisions such as appropriate placement into English language programs.
  • Measure developing English communication skills in preparation for future studies in English.

TOEIC Junior results include a Lexile® measure allowing teachers, parents, and students to easily identify books at the right level for them.
