The title of our annual report for 2011— covers a year of fruitful engagement to meet new challenges in the Middle East and North Africa. As AMIDEAST marked its sixtieth anniversary in 2011, it was also a time to reflect on AMIDEAST’s legacy of serving this important region since 1951 through education, training, exchange, and institutional development in order to expand opportunity, better young people’s lives, and advance mutual understanding.

The Local TOEFL Intermediate test preparation course focuses on the academic English component of the TOEFL exam at the intermediate level of language proficiency and test taking strategies for optimal performance on the TOEFL. This course will thoroughly familiarize students with the institutional TOEFL examination. Instruction includes test-taking strategies, analysis of question types, vocabulary building strategies, grammar review, and listening strategies. The course equally emphasizes both language development and test taking strategies.
