The Regional Digital Storytelling workshop is a five-day, intensive training workshop, which requires your active participation and commitment to becoming a local YES alumni-training resource!
The Workshop is hands-on and enhances and expands participants’ technical skills in video and photography. In today’s multimedia environment, activism and community service require a range of communication and media skills. The workshop will explore time-tested storytelling techniques, focusing on creating accessible messages for both local and international audiences
Objectives: At the close of this Digital Storytelling Workshop, participants will be able to:
• Create multimedia profiles of YES group members
• Work in teams to produce short films about community leaders/YES alumni and their experiences with digital collaboration
• Digitally distribute media through a variety of online platforms and outreach
• Develop plans to share skills learned and continue digital networking/outreach
Eligibility:
Demonstrated participation in YES alumni activities and community service
You have not attended an overseas YES alumni event within the past year
Criteria:
Demonstrated commitment to community service;
Positive and enthusiastic attitude;
Demonstrated ability to be flexible and responsible;
Demonstrated leadership skills or potential;
Demonstrated commitment to the growth and leadership development of YES alumni and the sustainability of YES alumni networks in your region;
Open to giving/receiving feedback;
Team player /ability to collaborate with others outside YES networks;
Ability to handle challenging situations;
Able to communicate effectively;
* Must be willing to commit in training others in your community and promote YES alumni leadership development upon returning home; at least one local training but be held within 4 months of returning from the workshop.
* Must be willing to create and submit at least 1 digital storytelling product within 4 months of returning from the workshop

AMIDEAST, a U.S. non-profit organization focused on development in the Middle East, is currently looking to fill a Deputy Chief of Party position on an upcoming USAID program in Morocco. The incumbent will be a Moroccan national who will work with the Chief of Party manage the overall project.
Candidates should have at least 5 years of professional experience in management of USAID programs, preferably grants, with Deputy Chief of Party experience strongly preferred.

This program was established in memory of Senior Vice President Diana Kamal who passed away after 28 years of distinguished service at AMIDEAST. In recognition of her dedication to international educational exchange, this fund will identify talented young Arab students and match them with scholarship opportunities at U.S. colleges and universities. Scholarships are very competitive and will be identified in November 2013 depending on the availability of funds.
WHO CAN APPLY FOR THE DKSSF PROGRAM?
AMIDEAST offre un programme de formation qui débutera le 13 Février 2012 pour une durée de 6 mois. Ce programme sera basé sur deux axes principaux : Linguistique et Formation professionnelle.
L’axe linguistique consiste à :
• offrir des cours de perfectionnement de la langue anglaise avec au final la passation d’un examen international pour certifier le niveau en Anglais (Test of English for International Communication, TOEIC). Chaque participant bénéficiera au total de 72 heures de formation en langue Anglaise.
• Offrir des cours de perfectionnement en langue française de 60 heures.
L’axe formation professionnelle sera réparti sur cinq modules, chaque module ayant une durée de 40 heures :
In partnership with Citi Foundation—Citi’s philanthropic arm, AMIDEAST is implementing the second round of the Arab Women’s Entrepreneurship Project (AWEP) initiative to provide a total of 80 women entrepreneurs from underserved backgrounds with training and support that will help them start a new business or expand an existing one. AWEP will help women in Lebanon, Morocco, Jordan and Egypt make tangible advances in their own economic productivity and potential.
In an initial 15-day training, participants will be introduced to the basic business skills required to succeed as an entrepreneur as well as the local requirements for registering and operating a business. Topics covered will include the fundamentals of customer service, sales, accounting for small businesses, risk and feasibility assessment, and strategic planning. Site visits will be made to selected small businesses started and run by women. This portion of the program will culminate in the development of a business plan.
This will be followed by a period of practical application during which the women will begin the implementation of their business plans, either proceeding with the establishment of a new business venture or developing an existing business concern. Mentors will provide support and assistance throughout this period.
