The AMIDEAST Exchanges and Scholarship Unit administers various scholarship and exchange programs for talented Egyptians with the purpose of expanding their knowledge and broadening their prospectives through education or training in the United States. These opportunities have made a great impact on the development of the Egyptian community. These programs are designed and tailored according to the Egyptian labor market so that the participants are well integrated within the community and able to develop their own career paths upon their return. Such opportunities target individual from various backgrounds and socio-economic statuses, but particular attention is given to empowering those who are marginalized.
The Regional Digital Storytelling workshop is a five-day, intensive training workshop, which requires your active participation and commitment to becoming a local YES alumni-training resource!
The Workshop is hands-on and enhances and expands participants’ technical skills in video and photography. In today’s multimedia environment, activism and community service require a range of communication and media skills. The workshop will explore time-tested storytelling techniques, focusing on creating accessible messages for both local and international audiences
Objectives: At the close of this Digital Storytelling Workshop, participants will be able to:
• Create multimedia profiles of YES group members
• Work in teams to produce short films about community leaders/YES alumni and their experiences with digital collaboration
• Digitally distribute media through a variety of online platforms and outreach
• Develop plans to share skills learned and continue digital networking/outreach
Eligibility:
Demonstrated participation in YES alumni activities and community service
You have not attended an overseas YES alumni event within the past year
Criteria:
Demonstrated commitment to community service;
Positive and enthusiastic attitude;
Demonstrated ability to be flexible and responsible;
Demonstrated leadership skills or potential;
Demonstrated commitment to the growth and leadership development of YES alumni and the sustainability of YES alumni networks in your region;
Open to giving/receiving feedback;
Team player /ability to collaborate with others outside YES networks;
Ability to handle challenging situations;
Able to communicate effectively;
* Must be willing to commit in training others in your community and promote YES alumni leadership development upon returning home; at least one local training but be held within 4 months of returning from the workshop.
* Must be willing to create and submit at least 1 digital storytelling product within 4 months of returning from the workshop

YES will cover the cost of round-trip international travel, visa, accommodation and meals.
You are responsible for obtaining your visa and any personal costs such as souvenirs or personal travel. iEARN-USA will issue a letter of support for your visa, but we cannot guarantee that the visa will be granted.

AMIDEAST is pleased to announce an English Language Program for Egyptian Civil Servants. The program is administered by AMIDEAST at the request of the American Consulate of Alexandria and provides an academic scholarship for one year.
The program consists of English language training and professional development training for government employees who work in Alexandria, Port Said , Khafr El Sheikh , El Beheira and El Gharbia governorates.
The program objectives are to increase the English language proficiency of participants and develop their work aptitude through targeted language and professional training modules.
The Open Society Foundations / University of Nottingham scholarship aims to provide opportunities for independent postgraduate study in the United Kingdom for students who have demonstrated both academic excellence and the potential to become leaders, decision-makers and opinion formers in their own country. Upon completion of their studies in the UK, scholars are expected to return to their home country to resume their studies or work there. Subject to satisfactory progress, the scholarships lead to the award of a Master’s degree.
