Taking the TOEFL iBT® does not just require a sound knowledge of English language but knowledge of the test and how to approach it. There are test-taking techniques or strategies that will help the test-taker to do better and achieve a higher score.

AMIDEAST, in collaboration with Mayiez Medical Center, is pleased to offer a TOEFL iBT® test-preparation course, beginning in April, 2012.  Please note that, due to regulations, this course is for females only.

In December, AMIDEAST administered the TOEIC Bridge Test to 100 employees of a Government section in Riyadh.  The Training and Development department wanted to evaluate the level of English capabilities of their staff, and contracted with AMIDEAST to conduct the test.

 AMIDEAST had the pleasure of providing test-prep training in TEOFL ITP for a group of 13 students employed in the financial sector in KSA.  The course was for 50 hours of classroom instruction, conducted on-site at the client’s premises, for a period of four weeks.  Instruction focused on test-taking strategies and techniques to help participants approach the test with greater confidence and to perform better in the test.  The participants required a minimum TOEFL ITP score to qualify for the organization’s scholarship to study for a higher degree in an overseas university.

In December, AMIDEAST conducted a 5-week, 50-hour GMAT preparation course at the request of a financial institution in Riyadh.  Thirteen students, all applying to MBA programs in U.S. /U.K. and European universities, were given specific instruction in test-taking strategies and timed practice exercises designed to improve their GMAT score.  At the request of the students, additional instruction was provided on the GMAT verbal section which was the section that proved to be most challenging.  The 2-hour a day course ended with the students taking a timed, practice GMAT exam. 

 AMIDEAST KSA held a GRE preparation course in February, 2012.  At the invitation of a medical research college in Riyadh, AMIDEAST taught a 5-week, 72-hour preparation course to 22 students for the revised GRE.  The course focused on teaching test-taking strategies and building students’ knowledge of academic vocabulary necessary for the GRE and for graduate studies in the United States and elsewhere.  The students, interested in earning master's and doctorate degrees in health informatics, radiology, pharmacology, and medical physics, completed a final practice exam in early March, commenting that  the course helped them improve their verbal, math and writing scores.

 We have an immediate opening for an Administrative Assistant for the Riyadh Field Office. This position reports directly to the AMIDEAST KSA Country Director.

POSITIONAL SUMMARY

The key responsibilities of this position is to provide administrative and office support activities for Field Office personnel. In addition, this person provides governmental support to maintain the various AMIDEAST licenses, certificates and memberships in Saudi Arabia. Duties include visiting government offices, fielding telephone calls, receiving and directing visitors, scheduling meetings, providing translations between Arabic and English, as well as researching potential office, classroom and testing sites.  Requires strong communications skills in both Arabic and English.
