What is the CLEP?

The College Level Examination Program (CLEP) allows you to obtain recognition for college-level achievement on examinations and earn credits in undergraduate degree programs and universities in the United States and overseas.

 Wherever or however you have learned and no matter what your age, you can take CLEP exams.  If the results are acceptable to your college or university, you may receive course credit, thus shortening a degree program or allowing you to begin with more advanced courses than would otherwise be possible.

 CLEP offers examinations in thirty-four different subject areas.  Each exam is ninety minutes in length.

The SAT II is a series of tests on specific academic subjects. Some of these tests may be required by some U.S. and international colleges and universities, both for entrance and placement, during the undergraduate admissions process. Among the tests offered are

What is the SAT I?

The SAT I is designed to measure a secondary school student's reasoning skills. It is a requirement for applicants to some, but not all, U.S. and international universities. The SAT I is made up of multiple-choice questions that measure mathematical and verbal reasoning abilities.

Where and When can I take the SAT I?

The SAT I is offered several times a year with registration deadlines approximately two months before the test date. The SAT I is administered on those dates in a paper-based format.

How do I register?

Students who wish to take the test in a country where AMIDEAST has an office may register for the SAT I at most AMIDEAST offices. Other candidates should refer to the SAT bulletin to register by fax or mail. They may also register on-line using a credit card.

Where can I take the GRE? 

The GRE General Test will be administered by computer in the Prometric Test Center at AMIDEAST/Rabat until May 2003. After that time it will be administered in a paper-based format, generally once or twice during the year. Please contact AMIDEAST/Rabat for dates and be sure to register well in advance.

Additional dates for the GRE General Test may be available in other countries where the test continues to be offered in computer-based format. Check the GRE Web site for details on centers offering tests in this format.

What is the GMAT?

The Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) is used by many graduate-level business and management-related programs in the United States and at international universities as part of their admissions process. The GMAT measures verbal, analytical, and quantitative skills. It includes multiple-choice questions as well as two analytical writing questions. The GMAT bulletin has additional information.

Where do I get the GMAT bulletin?

GMAT bulletins can be requested from Pearson VUE. Copies can also be downloaded from the GMAT Web site, which contains the most up-to-date information on the test.

Where can I take the GMAT?

The GMAT exam is administered on computer in Pearson VUE Test Centers at locations around the world.

What is the TOEFL?
 

The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) evaluates the English proficiency of people whose native language is not English.  Most U.S. universities require that international applicants take the TOEFL.  Generally a score of 61 to 80 on the Internet-based TOEFL (iBT), 173 to 250 on the computer-based version, or 500 to 550 on the paper-based version is required for admission to undergraduate and graduate programs in the United States, with graduate schools expecting the higher scores.
TOEFL iBT is a four-hour test with content to assess reading, listening, speaking, and writing skills.

Where and When can I take the TOEFL?

The TOEFL exam is administered in an Internet-based format at AMIDEAST/Morocco. Tests are held approximately every two weeks, depending on demand, and are scheduled by appointment. Be sure to register early as test centers can fill quickly.

How do I register to take the TOEFL in Morocco?

You may register directly with ETS (see TOEFL bulletin for details) or for a small additional fee you may register in person at AMIDEAST/Morocco. You may pay in local currency at AMIDEAST/Morocco but you still need to meet the registration deadlines and complete a TOEFL registration form.

When I apply to universities, what admission tests may I be expected to take?

TOEFL.  If English is not your native language, you must submit a TOEFL score.  Many institutions require a minimum score of about 80 on the Internet-based (iBT) TOEFL, about 213 on the computer-based version of the TOEFL, or about 550 on the paper-based version for both undergraduate and graduate students to enter their academic programs.  A few schools may not require the TOEFL if you completed high school or college in the United States or if you graduated from a four-year, degree-granting institution where English is the language of instruction.

SAT^® I.  The SAT  I may be required of undergraduate applicants.  No standard score is required; results are weighed with secondary school grades and other elements of the undergraduate application.

SAT^® II.  Each SAT II examination tests knowledge in a specific subject area.  One or more may be required of some undergraduate applicants.

GRE^®.  Most graduate applicants are required to submit results on the Graduate Record Examination general test and sometimes subject tests as well.  Some graduate programs require a minimum 450 verbal score; others may also have a 420 minimum required on the quantitative section.
