AMIDEAST is now accepting applications for the Abraham Lincoln Incentive Grants Program, funded by the United States Department of State through the Middle East Partnership Initiative and the Consulate General in Jerusalem. The program will provide grants (financial assistance) to promising, academically qualified but economically challenged students who will be in grade eleven in the academic year 2013/2014 from both Gaza and the West Bank, to assist them in competing more successfully for scholarships to pursue their undergraduate studies in the United States. This program is not a scholarship to study in the United States and does not guarantee U.S. college admission or a scholarship. However, this program does provide direct assistance to students who may be qualified for future U.S. study but would otherwise not be able to consider U.S. study because of the high cost of preparation courses, testing, application fees, etc.
In order to be considered for the Abraham Lincoln Incentive Grants Program, a student must meet all of the following requirements:
We’re happy to announce that Access is officially “social!” We have new and exciting opportunities for Access students, teachers, alumni, and coordinators worldwide to connect with each other.
The Access Network: a custom-designed site exclusively for Access participants. This site features discussion forums, blogs, photos, videos, and chats. Members can make friends within the Network and enjoy getting to know each other. Teachers are able to discuss Access best practices and share resources on the forum. While students are able to discuss their commitment to learning and leadership, and will have the opportunity to apply to be “discussion leaders” about topics they consider important.
Facebook – English Access Microscholarship Program Headquarters: a fan page connecting our programs worldwide. We encourage programs to share photos and stories and individuals to introduce themselves and share their thoughts about Access. We’re also trying to connect with the many program and country-wide Access Facebook pages.
The two-year curriculum will consist of 360 instructional hours broken down as follows:

Mission and Objectives
The Middle East Rule of Law (MEROL) program aims to assist in the creation of a critical mass of reform-minded professionals in the Middle East working in fields crucial to the development and sustainability of open societies.
For women who dare to dream
In 2008, the Goldman Sachs Group, Inc. announced 10,000 Women, a global initiative that will provide 10,000 underserved women with a business and management education. The American University in Cairo is one of the partnering universities in the initiative, working with The Wharton School of Business of the University of Pennsylvania to create the Women’s Entrepreneurship and Leadership Program (WEL), a business and management certificate program specifically for women in Egypt and the region. Goldman Sachs Group, Inc. is the official sponsor for the leadership program. AMIDEAST is administrating the program in the Middle East.
Recipients of the scholarship should show the following:
The WEL program course is open to residents of Egypt, the West Bank and Jordan, including but not limited to Palestinian or Iraqi residents of Jordan and elsewhere.
The fully-funded course, including travel expenses, is at AUC and instruction is in Arabic. Any participants who do not live in Cairo will be provided housing.

Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange and Study Program (YES) is seeking Palestinian secondary students to participate in a study-in-the-USA initiative for high school students during the 2013-2014 school year.
Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange and Study Program (YES) scholarships, funded by the US Department of State, give secondary school students in many Arab and Islamic countries an opportunity to study at American high schools and live with American host families for one academic year. Students will be enrolled in a full academic year, involving ten months of high school study in the US, attending classes, labs and extracurricular programs with their American classmates. YES students will also participate in special enrichment activities, including community service, youth leadership training, a civics education program and other activities that will develop a well-rounded understanding of American culture through interaction with diverse groups of Americans.
