The purpose of this course is to introduce effective business writing skills for producing a variety of documents. Participants will analyze writing samples; plan, draft, edit and format communications materials; and engage in peer review.

  • Produce examples of business materials that are relevant and clearly organized;
  • Develop writing skills specific to the workplace and augmented through peer review.

Professional Skills Training: Negotiation Skills Workshop

General Description
 
In this workshop, participants will learn to negotiate creatively, using a ‘win-win’ approach that fosters business relationships and maximizes outcomes for all the parties involved. Participants will also gain skills in preparing for and conducting successful negotiations, applying the behaviors of superior negotiators. Finally, they will work on assessing and broadening their negotiation style, as well as using and responding to commonly used negotiation tactics.

  • Define “negotiation” and the “win/win” approach;

Preparation: where interests are defined and options are generated

Professional Skills Training: Presentation Skills Workshop

General Description
 
This workshop is designed to enhance presentation skills by covering four major skills areas: planning content, using effective delivery techniques, designing powerful visual aids, and gaining control of external factors that can impact on the presentation process. This is achieved by having the participants prepare and deliver a presentation, evaluate it, and apply new skills and techniques to improve it.
 
At the beginning of this seminar, the participants will learn to plan a well-organized and informative presentation.

Professional Skills Training: Strategic Management Workshop

All too often, managers are so involved in responding to crises or playing catch-up that they concentrate all their energy on crisis management and short-term tactics. In order to raise the level of organizational effectiveness and become innovative, managers can no longer afford to leap into tactical action in response to every problem. One of the traits of an innovative leader is the ability to formulate a vision for achieving strategic advantage. In this workshop, participants will focus on identifying their values, vision and mission and explore the benefits of developing strategic thinking in responding to a changing environment. They will also learn to assess their internal and external environments, develop goals and tactics to implement the strategic vision, formulate action and communication plans, and monitor progress.

The goal of this course is to improve skills in presenting prepared public speeches in formal settings, and to debate within a formal setting. This will help participants to organize spoken ideas in informal discussions as well.
