In an initial 15-day training, participants will be introduced to the basic business skills required to succeed as an entrepreneur as well as the local requirements for registering and operating a business. Topics covered will include the fundamentals of customer service, sales, accounting for small businesses, risk and feasibility assessment, and strategic planning. Site visits will be made to selected small businesses started and run by women. This portion of the program will culminate in the development of a business plan.
This will be followed by a period of practical application during which the women will begin the implementation of their business plans, either proceeding with the establishment of a new business venture or developing an existing business concern. Mentors will provide support and assistance throughout this period.
