At AMIDEAST Education Abroad Programs in the Arab World, we are committed to have providing financial assistance to students participating on our programs in the Middle East and North Africa. AMIDEAST currently awards two types of scholarships: 1) AMIDEAST Education Abroad Scholarships 2) Cairo University Engineering Travel Grants.
AMIDEAST Education Abroad scholarships will be made in the form of a program fee reduction and average between $500 and $1000 for summer programs, and between $500 and $2,000 for semester and academic-year programs. In exceptional circumstances, awards of up to $2000 may be made for summer programs, and up to $5000 for semester and academic-year programs.

AMIDEAST’s Education Abroad Programs benefit from the advice and quality assurance of an Academic Consortium, a group of 19 higher education institutions that comprise a cross-section of U.S. higher education. Each member institution is represented by an education abroad professional and two faculty members — one of whom teaches Arabic and one of whom teaches in Middle East and North African Studies.

Building on AMIDEAST’s mission, AMIDEAST Education Abroad Programs in the Arab World help develop mutual understanding through programs for Americans to study the Middle East and North Africa and interact with the peoples and cultures of the region, especially local university faculty members and students. At the same time, AMIDEAST Education Abroad Programs strive to develop students’ intercultural and global competence and provide students with living and learning environments that are academically free and stimulating, intellectually rigorous and challenging, interculturally open and accepting, and physically safe.

Established in 1951, America-Mideast Educational and Training Services, Inc. (AMIDEAST) is a private American nonprofit organization engaged in international education, training, and development assistance work. Based in Washington, DC, it has over 20 field and project offices in 13 countries in the Middle East and North Africa and more than 600 dedicated professional staff working with international, regional and local partners on the ground. AMIDEAST provides programs and services to improve educational opportunities and quality, strengthen local institutions, and develop language and professional skills for success in the local economy.
Deeply committed to strengthening mutual understanding and cooperation between Americans and the peoples of the Middle East and North Africa, AMIDEAST also offers study abroad programs for Americans interested in learning more about this important region.
