برنامج بعثات قادة الغد

يسر مبادرة الشراكة الشرق الأوسطية (MEPI ) التابعة لوزارة الخارجية الأميركية وأميديست أن تعلنا عن البدء بقبول طلبات الترشبح لبرنامج بعثات قادة الغد للعام الحالي. إن برنامج بعثات قادة الغد هو  موجه لطلاب السنة الأخيرة من المرحلة الثانوية المتحمسين في الشرق الأوسط وشمال أفريقيا من ذوي الدخل المحدود.

يوفر البرنامج بعثات جامعية لمدة أربعة أعوام وفرص تدريب في مؤسسات مختارة للدراسة العليا في الشرق الأوسط للطلاب الذين يملكون مؤهلات قيادية.

Program Summary

Launched in 2009, the Abraham Lincoln Incentive Grants Program invests in bright, needy Palestinian students with the potential to compete successfully for scholarships to pursue undergraduate studies in the United States. The program, which is funded by the U.S. Department of State’s Middle East Partnership Initiative and the Consulate General in Jerusalem, is the first of its kind in Palestine to provide direct assistance to students who would not otherwise consider U.S. study due to the significant preparatory expenses that are involved to become competitive applicants for U.S. college and university admissions and scholarships.

Announced on the 200th anniversary of the birth of Abraham Lincoln, who came from humble roots yet rose to become one of the greatest U.S. presidents, the grants program evokes Lincoln’s spirit of hard work, self-reliance, and hope as inspiration to these potential future Palestinian leaders.

Main Goals

• Invest in the future of young Palestinians

• Assist promising, academically qualified but economically challenged Palestinian students

• Enable a larger pool of capable young Palestinian men and women from the West Bank and Gaza to compete along with students in other countries for the opportunity to further their academic training in the United States of America

Program Summary

Camp Discovery provides an enriching, happy summer camp experience for mainly at-risk youth from refugee camps in Gaza and the West Bank. Piloted in 2007, it has been expanded in size and duration in the following summers, reaching more than 1,650 children ages 8-14 within its first four years. Camp activities focus on English language training in a fun-filled, learner-centered environment, which is carried over and applied in complementary modules focused on artistic expression and scientific discovery, along with community service and team-building activities, as well as leadership development opportunities. The summer camps are funded by the U.S.

Program Summary

The HSBC Financial and Entrepreneurship Awareness (FEA) Program was designed to provide young Arab women the opportunity to develop skills that will help them realize their career aspirations in business and finance. Funded by international banking giant HSBC and administered by AMIDEAST in partnership with Wilson College in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, the program addressed the need among young Arab women to acquire skills that enhance their employability, thereby meeting a vitally important goal in a region with extremely high rates of unemployment among women. 

Main Goals

• Support the career goals of young Arab women seeking careers in finance and entrepreneurship

• Provide short-term skills training in business and entrepreneurship basics that complement participants’ university-level studies, with a focus on activities that provide hands-on exposure to the realities of business, finance, and entrepreneurship activities

• Build the business, leadership, and financial management skills of young women to prepare them to be business-owners and contribute to broader economic gains for the region

* These degrees require over 120 credits for graduation.  Students will only be accepted to these majors if they meet the additional requirements of that major (such as prerequisite science classes) and if they do not need pre-academic English courses (students with an IELTS score of under 6.0 may require pre-academic English).

Participation in the program includes: travel; academic fees for four years of university at AUC; a study abroad experience in the U.S.; accident and sickness insurance; housing; and a monthly allowance.
