Established in 1951, AMIDEAST is a private, nonprofit organization that works to improve mutual understanding and cooperation between the people of the Middle East/North Africa and the United States. Our programs and services—which include the production and distribution of educational materials, educational exchange programs, and development assistance in the region—rely upon the close cooperation and joint expertise of staff in our Washington, DC headquarters and in our network of field offices stretching from Morocco to Yemen. Our in-region presence has enabled us to identify and import publications produced in the Middle East and North Africa that are appropriate for U.S. school audiences. Some of these are available in the United States only through AMIDEAST.
