Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development. Information on this organization's numerous conferences and training institutes, distance learning opportunities, publications listings, selected articles from Educational Leadership. The association also distributes a free e-mail bulletin on issues affecting education and the elementary/secondary classroom, which can be subscribed to here.

Education World. A database of over 120,000 education-related sites plus weekly features in such areas as education news, lesson planning, curriculum, administration, books in education, events, "cool school of the week," and worldwide (primarily U.S.) job listings. Visitors can start discussions on site message boards or sign up to get e-mail bulletins of site news.

ERIC Clearinghouse on Teaching and Teacher Education. Along with the abstracts of related research that ERIC is famous for, this site offers such resources as information on choosing a program, alternative paths to licensure, resources for new teachers, international opportunities (for U.S. teachers), and contacts for specialized areas within education.

ERIC Calendar of Education-Related Conferences. While you're touring ERIC, don't miss this site. The searchable calendar includes more than 700 international and U.S. national, regional, and state conferences scheduled for the current and upcoming year as well as the past year. The database is updated as new information becomes available.

National Council on Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE). Professionally accredited programs are listed by state, with links to institution sites. NCATE also offers guidelines on what to look for in a teacher education program, links to U.S. state departments of education, a list of frequently asked questions relating to teacher education, and more.
