Distance Learning on the Net. Dr. Glenn Hoyle presents descriptions of and links to collegiate, K-12, and training distance programs as well as resources for distance education.

Get Educated.com. This Web site is the home of the Virtual University Gazette, a free e-mail monthly that describes new academic and corporate distance programs, provides resource reviews, and offers features and links related to distance education. The site also introduces distance learning through articles, profiles of programs in specific fields, a long list of distance learning programs with links and brief descriptions, and more.

The Global Distance Education Network. Organized by the World Bank, this network provides access to about 300 knowledge sources on distance education, with a focus on distance education related to human development in economically underdeveloped societies. Resources relate to teaching-learning, management, technology, and policy. Plans are for this resource to be regularly updated and diversified to regional sites.

International Centre for Distance Learning. Based at the Open University, this site includes about 11,000 abstracts of literature on distance learning and 31,000 listings on distance learning programs (primarily in Commonwealth countries), all searchable, as well as information on distance education newsletters and journals, conferences and other events.

International Society for Technology in Education. Conference and training opportunity listings, suggestions for distance education success, resource information, studies, and more.

Lucent Technologies’ Center for Excellence in Distance Learning. This producer of technology and training for distance education offers links to case studies, brief articles (including one on quality assessment), research studies, and more.

Peterson’s: The Lifelong Learning Channel. Search for accredited degree programs or courses by level, field, or keyword.

Society for Applied Learning Technology. This professional association for individuals involved with instructional technology provides an extensive glossary of terms used in the field.

Web-Based Learning Resources Library. A collection of links to sources of distance education courses and other off-campus learning options as well as tools for development of Web-based courses (including a glossary of terms, listings of service providers and consultants, and more), from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.

The Wellspring. An "on-line community" for distance educators, the Wellspring includes an on-line library containing nearly 100 papers, threaded discussion forums for discussing issues with colleagues, and a chat area.
