Disabled Students

Association on Higher Education and Disability (AHEAD).  International association site provides such resources as guidelines for evaluating learning disabilities and links to college, legal, technology, disability-specific, and other types of aids.

College and Career Programs for Deaf Students.  This on-line version of the Gallaudet Research Institute's popular guide provides listings for 149 U.S. colleges with special programs or services for deaf students.   One interesting statistic given is percentage of in-state, U.S. out-of-state, and international deaf students at each institution.

Council for Exceptional Children.  Hosts ERIC Clearinghouse on Disabled and Gifted Information and the National Clearinghouse on Professions in Special Education.  Also lists U.S. colleges meeting certification standards for preparing special education professionals, as well as detailing these standards.

HEATH Resource Center.  National clearinghouse on postsecondary education for individuals with disabilities, which publishes many free helpful materials.

Mobility International USA.  Works to empower people with disabilities around the world through international exchange, information, technical assistance and training, to ensure the inclusion of people with disabilities in international exchange and development programs.  Web site offers such resources as personal responses to questions about international exchange opportunities, tips on financial aid and travel for exchange participants, and ideas for including the disabled in development projects.

National Rehabilitation Information Center.  Access to research literature and other resources relating to disability and rehabilitation.

New York Institute for Special Education Blindness Resource Center.  University programs for the blind or providing training in education/rehabilitation for the blind, vendors of adaptive technology, organizations, and more.
