Karachi-area alumni participated in a career development seminar at the iEARN office in June, meeting with the Manager of Operations of Crescent Communications, an international telecommunications company. Alumni discussed training opportunities within the telecommunications industry and learned that many companies provide flexible hours and scholarships to employees who wish to pursue university degrees.

Alumni have reacted to the recent devastating earthquake in northern Pakistan by volunteering to help those affected. Turab Qureshi '04 and Abdul Saboor '04 have spearheaded alumni efforts in the Rawalpindi and Islamabad areas. They held a meeting for local alumni who have decided to volunteer their time with the Red Crescent and other organizations that are working in their local communities. "Abdul Saboor, Hassan Mirza'05 and I have been working with the Islamabad West Rotary Club to help pack food, water and tents to send to the victims of the earthquake in remote areas like Manshra and Mezaffar Garh," Turab reported. "I also visited refugees at a medical camp here in Rawalpindi. There are 350 patients here but limited space and medicine. The alumni here are working to raise funds to buy medicine since this is a critical need."
