Alumnus Laith Hajarat added a valuable perspective while he
honed his interviewing skills as a member of the interview
panel for the 06-07 YES candidates. "Taking part in the
interviewing process has given me such a strange yet a wonderful
feeling," Laith said. "Having been a YES student
and knowing the requirements and the qualities needed to be
selected to be part of the program helped a lot in understanding
the candidates, their way of thinking, and what they are actually
looking to gain from the experience. All I can say is that
this was just a great experience that I will never forget
and I would also like to take part in interviewing next year."
Laith is not the only alumnus who was active
in the recruitment and selection process for the upcoming
'07 cohort—a number of alumni were present during English
language testing to speak to applicants and their parents
about the YES program and to share their experiences. Laith,
Rana Ahmad ’05, Haneen Al Sousa ’05, and Ziad Alamour ’05
were also present for the recent informational meeting in
April for parents of both the current '06 and the upcoming
'07 students. The alumni answered questions about their time
in the United States as YES students, and gave their perspectives
on the process of re-entry after the program.
