Israeli Arabs

In the small Israeli village of Maker, the alumni organized a Child Day Celebration. The village children enjoyed a fun-filled day of delicious food, games, bowling and face-painting. The alumni advertised the event by handing out colorful fliers in the village market to parents. The Child Day Celebration was a huge success. “During the Child Day Celebration, I gathered bottles together and organized a game of bowling. Children were delighted as they knocked down all my make-shift bowling pins,” said Marlene Milhim `06. Katreen Milhim `06, stayed up all night drawing animals for the children to color. “Kids were excited about coloring-in my creations. It was a tiring day, overwhelming, and hot but the delight we took in watching the children play made it all worth it,” said Katreen. Mona Shimi was also busy that day, “I was completely immersed in painting faces, all the kids were crowded around me waiting for their turn, it was so much fun. We all worked really hard and enjoyed ourselves too,” she remarked. Plans are already underway to do another Child Day Celebration in the future.
