Fulbright Foreign Student Program: Fulbright Application
in Syria
Applications are now being accepted for the 2008-2009
academic year.
Guidelines for Syrian
Fulbright Student Applicants:
Applications are now being accepted for masters degree
candidates for the 2008-2009 academic year J. William
Fulbright Scholarship Program funded by the United States
Department of State. The Fulbright scholarship will
pay for up to two years of study towards a masters
degree in the U.S. Applicants must have excellent academic
records, strong English language skills, outstanding
character, and a desire to use skills gained in the
United States to serve Syria upon completion of higher
studies in the U.S. Applicants must be Syrian citizens
or Palestinians residing in Syria. Students of medicine,
dentistry, and pharmacy are not eligible.
Deadline: August 9, 2007 (late
submissions will not be accepted)
Paper applications are available to be picked up at
the American Cultural Center, U.S. Embassy in Damascus,
Syria. Complete application submissions must include:
- TOEFL score of at least 550 (paper-based exam)
or 213 (computer-based exam);
- A completed typed application form including essay;
- Translations of high school baccalaureate transcript,
undergraduate transcript, undergraduate certificate
of graduation, graduate transcript (if any), graduate
certificate of graduation (if any), documentation
of class rank (if available);
- Three letters of recommendation from persons familiar
with the applicants academic achievements (in English
or Arabic);
- A copy of the English information page from the
applicants passport;
- Four recent passport-sized photos.
