Bicommunal Support Program (BSP)
The BSP was established
in August 2000 as part of the U.S. effort to assist
Cyprus in finding a reasonable and practical federal
solution to the Cyprus problem. The goal of the program
is to encourage cooperation between Greek-Cypriot
and Turkish-Cypriot professionals and community leaders
through bicommunal activities that emphasize a political
settlement.

These activities,
which cover program topics defined by the U.S.
Embassys Bicommunal Team, are designed to provide a framework
for cooperation among key people and institutions
on the island should a political settlement
be
reached.
AMIDEAST administers the BSP on behalf of the Department
of State and the U.S. Embassy in Cyprus. The Program
Director at AMIDEAST is Kate Archambault. An AMIDEAST
program office was established in Cyprus and is administered
by Karen Stephanou, Program Coordinator. |
