wonderful opportunity for me to reach out to people on a more
personal level by sharing with them my experience as a YES student."-Hadeel

"Participating in the Sister Cities Youth
Summit on Global Citizenship allowed us the opportunity to brain-storm
solutions to a wide range of global issues. We came up with win-win
solutions for current global problems. I think the secret of success
for summits like this is that they help participants to realize
that they are not the only ones who believe in the importance of
ideas to improve development and
conflict resolution around the world. All of us are capable of creating
positive change. This concept empowers participants to take action.
After finishing my academic year in the US, I could not believe
how quickly the time went. I was overjoyed, however, to see my friends
and family again. Now I have solid proof that love survives and
grows across great distances. The YES opportunity changed my life
and I also believe the lives of many others. I extend my enormous
gratitude to each person and
organization for my wonderful experience in the United States."

"This summer I was given a unique opportunity
to attend the Sister Cities International 50th Anniversary, which
was both fun and beneficial. We all live in an age where it is difficult
to promote global peace but I believe peace is still possible. Attending
this conference and meeting people from all over the world convinces
me that peace can be achieved though working together as one people.
Exchange programs such as the YES program play an important role
in global peace-making. Programs like YES help to create a better
understanding between people. Such programs build harmony amongst
people of different cultures and backgrounds. Of course all of this
contributes to our main goal of world peace!" -Laith Jawad
