The Youth Exchange and Study program (YES) recently received the "Global Youth Leadership Award" from Sister Cities International during its 50th Anniversary celebration and conference, held in July in Washington, D.C. Four YES alumni were chosen to attend the conference and accept the award on behalf of all of the students on the program. Maya Al-Kateb '04 from Syria, Hadeel Bayoumi '05 from Israel, Sherish Khan from Pakistan and Laith Hajarat '04 from Jordan were selected based on their leadership skills and the work they have done as alumni in their home communities.

The four also participated in the International Youth Summit on Global Leadership held at George Washington University from July 11-16.

The YES representatives had this to say about the conference:

"The SCI conference was a wonderful gathering of young leaders who care about the world, people who are trying to make a difference. I've learned amazing things this week about global citizenship, and it was inspiring to see people working together to change things for the better. It was also a
